What a whirlwind of a day! We are currently in Poipet, Cambodia. I'm sorry that we have not been able to post something new each day, but there has not been time.We got an early start today when Soeuth came to pick us up for breakfast at his house. Syna had fixed tropical fruit plates and cinnamon rolls. Our coffee lovers had a cup of wonderful coffee, the first for most since we arrived in SE Asia. After breakfast, we left for the first house church, about 30 minutes outside Poipet. This was a very bare-bones house on stilts. We had to take our shoes off (Cambodian custom) and climb a three rung, 45 degree angle "ladder" to get up to the porch. Soon we were joined by 8 kids and about 10 adults. Though the house was very plain, the worship was not. Rich was asked to do a Gospel illusion, Anna shared a testimony, and Dave preached a short sermon about the Acts 3 account of the healing of the lame man. After another song, Soeuth gave an invitation and all 8 children came to receive Christ as their Savior. He counseled them as a group and then led them in a prayer to receive Christ. Wow! Then some reading glasses were given out to adults who had been having trouble reading.
After a short visit with the neighbors, etc., we headed out for another 25 minute drive beyond this area to a second house church. It was a very similar service, though the house was very nice and we sat in chairs this time. This was a smaller group due to fear since the leader had been sent to prison on a false charge. This time Jim shared a testimony and Rich did his Gospel illusion again and then preached on Jesus stilling the storm. We ate a lunch that had been packed for us by Syna.
On the way back to Poipet we stopped at a burgeoning house church where a grandmother takes care of her 13 grandchildren. Many of them were sick and some were crying. We prayed there for specific needs and then left.
We are about to head out to our only restaurant meal in Poipet, at a Japanese restaurant that Rich recommended.
We're back. This really was a great restaurant. We treated Seouth's family and a friend to dinner with our group. Afterward, Dave and Shelley conferred with S amd S regarding the pastors/wives marriage seminar planned for tomorrow while the other seven of us went up to one of our rooms for our evening debrief and devotion time. We finished by praying for the seminar tomorrow and for the group now on their way to Thailand that we have been holding up in prayer.
It is now 9:30 and since we have to meet in the lobby of the hotel at 6 am to go to breakfast we'd better end this long blog.
Please continue to pray for us. Health has been good except for a few colds. Mosquitoes are biting but all of us are getting along well and are excited about what we are seeing God do in this country.
